News from Rob Austin Racing...
Time to move on...
After three fantastic seasons competing with my fellow rugby playing colleague, Eric Bailey, and racing with Startline Services I have decided to form my own team and compete in another car and another Championship!
For 2008 Team RSA have been formed and will be run from our own premises in Romsey. The intention is to build the team up to a professional level which can compete with the best and in turn allow us to run possibly two or three cars in the future.
We have put together a small team of engineers and will also enjoy some support from Messrs Amery Motorsport, who are based in the North of England.
For 2008 we have purchased the Ex Dan Eagling Renault Clio Cup and have taken the bold step to compete in the Benelux Championship.
The Benelux Championship is six rounds supporting, amongst others, the World Series by Renault Championship and the Spa 12 hours.
There are six rounds, three of which take place at Spa Francourchamps, Zolder and the world famous Nurburgring. The intention is to compete for outright honours.
Details of the Championship will be unveiled at the Brussels Motor Show on January the 19th. We believe that I may be the only Englishman entered for the Championship.
In addition, and subject to approval, we would also welcome the opportunity of racing in the British Renault Clio Cup Championship when time and budget allows. This will be subject to obtaining an entry.
Finally, I am pleased to confirm that my son, Simon Austin, will be competing in the 2008 Ginetta Junior Championship, which is a support series for the British Touring Cars. Having had an excellent first year we would expect him to be able to compete regularly in the top 6 and further news items will be available at www.simonaustinracing.com.
