News from Rob Austin Racing...
2009 Season
Due to financial considerations Robin's racing programme has been somewhat sporadic during 2009.
However, he has entered some interesting races, including Swinging Sixties Classic Sports Car Event with his chief engineer, Chris Dear.
At Anglesea in April they were able to finish second in class despite leading the race until the very last lap.
However on 5th July they were able to go one place better winning their Class in an Inter Series Race at the world famous Spa Francorchamps circuit in what was a most enjoyable weekend enjoyed by all. It was also a first for Chris who managed to pick up two Class wins in one weekend! More trophies for Julie to polish!
Back in May Rob was invited to take part in the final Renault Clio Cup race at the famous 14 mile German Nordschleife. This was a support race for 24 hour meeting in front of 150,000 spectators. The race itself comprised of 120 varoius Renault cars, although Rob, despite running on rubber last used in August 2008, was able to qualify in 11th position of the Class out the 26 runners.
Regretably with mechanical gremlins he was unable to complete the race, but again thoroughly enjoyed the experience of racing on the world famous circuit.
